Jose Avendano
Jose attended Apollo College in Tucson, AZ and has been
working in this field for 16 years. His hobbies include sports,
riding Quads, and riding motorcycles. Whenever he does drink, he
is a finicky beer drinker.
What Jose loves most about his job is watching and contributing to people getting better and watching their outcomes.
Bernice de la Garza
Bernice recently graduated Pima Medical Institute and has been a
Physical Therapy technician for 10 months. Her hobbies include
softball and shopping and she gets her nail polish changed once
to twice a week.
What Bernice loves most about her job is being able to impact a patient’s functional mobility through therapy while listening to them and bringing a smile to their face.
Jessica
Ransom
Jessica attended Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, OH
where she was the college’s mascot, “the Bear”. She has been an
outpatient PTA for six years and a primarily SNF PTA for four
years, totaling ten years of experience. Her hobbies include
basketball, softball, volleyball, and going to the movies.
Jessica enjoys the people she works with and loves to see the patients she works with increase their independence and be able to go home happy.
Sharie
Williams
Sharie Williams attended Tennessee State University and has 13
years experience in the field. Her hobbies include reading and
singing and she has been known to sing or dance for her patients
to get them to smile.
Sharie feels that there is a daily reward when working with her patients - each day someone reaches a mile stone that they set upon the initial evaluation. “I have learned many things from my patients over the years. The most important thing is to appreciate life and all the beauty it encompasses.”
Dan
Johnson, MPT
Dan attended Chapman University in Orange, CA and has been
working in this field for 12 years. His hobbies include fast
cars and fast computers. Something quirky about him is that he
has size 13 feet.
What Dan loves most about his job is his co-workers.
Marisha Muro
Marisha attended Pima Medical Institute and has been a Physical
Therapy technician for three years and a PTA for about three
months. Her hobbies include being a mom and spending time with
her family as well as going out and dancing on occasion. She
loves planning events and to laugh and joke with people.
What Marisha loves most about her job is helping others get well.
Luanne Martin
Luanne went to school in Pennsylvania and has over 30 years
experience. She enjoys gardening and has a tendency to count
things for no reason – like putting green beans or small
potatoes in a bag at the grocery store.
She loves to help people help themselves and recently relocated here to help her mother, along with her 3 dogs and 2 cats.
Chuck
Kruger
Chuck received a Master’s of Science in Speech-Language
Pathology and a Bachelor’s in Rehabilitation Studies from the
University of North Texas; a Bachelor’s in Business
Administration from Northwood University; and has earned 5
Associate degrees that are business and marketing related from
Tarrant County Community College. He has 15 years experience in
the field. His hobbies include Billiards, Backgammon, and Chess.
His children and him used to breed exotic birds and he would give talks at the schools on endangered animals and bring parrots. The students called him “The Birdman” and thought it was funny that he taught people and birds to speak.
What Chuck loves most about his job are the people (patients, therapists, and staff). “Everyone has a life story. I enjoy hearing about people’s lives.”
Miriam
Vetter
Miriam graduated Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, WI with a
Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy. She has been
practicing for 18 years with experience in long term adult care
both in house and home health. Her special interest is
performing home assessments and giving recommendations to assist
people returning to a safe and functional environment. Her
hobbies include walking in Sabiro Canyon and spending time with
her friends and her dog.

stories about life and what is important to them. It is most
gratifying to be part of the rehab process I helping a patient
become as independent as they possibly can.”
